Spring’s punk pretty makeup looks are fiercely feminine. Larger than life brows, slightly peach-flushed cheeks and bright bold lips rule the face of Rita Ora. Her messy blonde mane gives her an edgy advantage, but the main feature of the look is that it’s not perfect. She keeps her liner smudged with a smoky, sparkling shadow. Her lips have more of a matte finish than the rich glosses that we pull out for the spring. The look is effortless, yet completely contrived – exactly what this season is all about.

STEP 1:  Hopefully you paid attention to beauty trends this winter and let your brows grow in. However, whether thick and glorious or thin and sharp, everyone can fake a better brow. Comb upwards and identify your arch. Directly under my brows, I use The Body Shop’s Lightening Touch, which is a liquid illuminator. It discreetly hides hairs (especially when growing out brows) and immediately punches up your eyes. Brow powder gets the job done to fill in, but make sure to only enhance your brows, don’t create new ones. Re-comb to set hairs in place and give a more natural look.

STEP 2: A shimmering taupe shadow is one of the most functional products you can have in your kit because it works for every season. When combined with a creamy black eyeliner, you can create the most rockin’ neutral smoky eye. The clay-like tone gives eyes a subtle shadow after some gentle smudging. I dig Fashion Fair’s Semi-Matte Eyeshadow in Safari Brown.

STEP 3: Matte finished lipsticks or tints are tricky, girls, but Tarte has introduced a new one that doesn’t dry out your pout, but sustains to be beautifully bold. Lip Surgence Matte Lip Tint combines intense color with moisture. It has the same staying power as your typical tint in an easy retractable stick. No messy pots to worry about.
