On Monday October 20th, 2014, the world of fashion lost a true genius of his craft. Oscar de la Renta passed away in his home in Kent, CT at the age of 82. The native of the Dominican Republic was more than just a red-carpet go-to designer, but a kind spirit with a knack for understated elegance. A champion for diversity on the runway, Mr. de la Renta faithfully featured women of color in his shows and dressed some of the most celebrated African-American women in the world. In hopes of honoring his legacy, the editors at Ebony Magazine have prepared a slideshow, that’s showcases just a few of our all-time favorite Oscar moments.
