1 ACT AGAINST ACNE
It is no secret that pimple flare-ups do not cease during the warmer months; in fact, they can get worse without proper care. “For managing severe cases, let me stress that patients should not give up hope,” says Montclair, N.J.-based dermatologist Jeanine Downie, M.D. “They should look into prescription medications, such as Absorica. It is the best drug on the market for shrinking oil glands and handling cystic, scarring and difficult-to-manage acne. I also recommend continual reapplication of oil-free sunblock with SPF 30.”

2 COLOR CORRECT
“An important concern about sunscreens and skin of color is the blue-gray hue that appears when it is applied,” explains Natasha Sandy, M.D., a dermatologist in Ellicott City, Md. “Having a sunscreen that does not leave the ashy look is important. Zinc, which protects against UVA and UVB rays, is also the ingredient that causes the blue-gray hues. One that micronizes the zinc into small particles [such as the Drunk Elephant product below] will help reduce this appearance.”
