Some men move mountains. Others part seas.  And some build empires for their children.

Percy Robert Miller—professionally known as Master P or these days, simply “P”— has dutifully strived to do all the above for his family.  Starting a media conglomerate from the ground up in the early ’90s,  the rap mogul paved the way for his children, several of whom are flourishing in the family business. His son Percy “Romeo” III is a rapper and actor who will be seen in Madea’s Witness Protection. Daughter Cymphonique, a budding recording artist, is the star of Nickelodeon’s How to Rock. P’s seven other children—Vercy, Hercy, Mercy, Veno, Itali, Tytyana and Intylyana—are still mapping out their own paths. It’s hard to quantify the Millers’ talents and entrepreneurial prowess, but it’s the family patriarch who started it all by dreaming big and putting family first.

“When you become a dad, you have to understand sacrifice. You have to start thinking and living for your children. Coming from the ’hood and being able to really change my life for the better, I did that all for them,” explains P.

Being a father and a music and media icon isn’t always the easiest road to travel, so P had to run a tight ship. “I’m in the spotlight, but I’ve always been there for my kids,” he says. “A lot of parents in the entertainment business allow employees to raise their kids. Not me. I have to be a part of my kids’ lives. I want to be at their plays and at their schools. I want to be involved in their lives. It makes all the difference.”
