The last few years have been filled with one public “sorry” after another and the sad thing is, folks won’t stop setting themselves up to deliver an apology anytime soon.

Now, we have Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg apologizing for her comments toward Colin Kaepernick and other athletes for labeling their form of protest as “dumb and disrespectful.”

She also stated that athletes have the right to protest “if they want to be stupid.”

Kaepernick’s decision to take a knee during the National Anthem as a sign of protest in response to the various unarmed Black lives being taken by police followed by no consequence, has caused wide scrutiny, criticism and controversy.

According to ESPN.com, in a statement released by the court, Ginsburg expressed:

“Some of you have inquired about a book interview in which I was asked how I felt about Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who refused to stand for the national anthem. Barely aware of the incident or its purpose, my comments were inappropriately dismissive and harsh. I should have declined to respond.”

In response, Kaepernick expressed his disappointment about Ginsurg’s original comments, stating, “It’s disappointing to hear a Supreme Court justice call a protest against injustices and oppression, “stupid [and] dumb.”

Yep, we agree.
