SZA is on a roll and we love to see it.

The SOS singer was recently named by Billboard as their 2023 Woman of the Year. After releasing her first album in seven years, SZA has topped the charts and seen tremendous success for her emotionally-revealing music. Fans have been speculating the release of her sophomore project for years which contributed to the build up of anticipation once it finally came out. Snippets of SZA's unreleased tracks surged across platforms like TikTok and Instagram and have continually done so after the album was revealed.

Born Solána Imani Rowe, the St. Louis born, NJ-raised artist has built a massive cult following. Signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, her debut album Ctrl solidified her place in music as one to watch.

In a press release from the outlet, Billboard’s editorial director Hannah Karp stated, “Since she burst onto the scene in 2017, SZA has defied genres and continually released raw, powerful songs which have landed her music on the Billboard charts. The release of her latest album, SOS, has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B, and catapulted her into superstardom. We can’t wait to honor her as Woman of the Year.”

The Billboard Women in Music Awards will take place this March in Los Angeles.
