It’s safe to say that Taraji P. Henson’s portrayal of Cookie Lyon on Fox hit Empire is a big reason for the show’s success.

Recent reports that the Golden Globe-winning actress would be leaving the series after Season Four shocked and disappointed many fans. Fortunately, the star is addressing the rumor head-on, calling it nonsense, according to TheJasmineBrand.

“I don’t know what this rumor is that I’m done after [Season] Four… I have bills to pay… I love Chanel too much to walk away from a hit show.  Who is spreading that? Who walks away from that money?”

Apparently, the 47-year-old actress has developed some expensive habits supported by her Empire paycheck, particularly her Gucci shoe collection.

“I can’t leave the show because I bought every color, every style.”

Sources at RadarOnline initially reported the scene-stealer was hesitant to sign up for Season Five, hoping to use her star power to negotiate more out of her deal.

“Taraji is the franchise, and she’s milking it big time. One minute she’s telling them she wants it to go, to continue for the foreseeable future, the next she’s changed her mind and talking about the next step of her career elsewhere, or needing a break for her personal life.”

It’s good to know we can look forward to more Cookie Lyon for seasons to come!

Season Four of Empire premieres Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
