Black Hollywood royalty came through at the 2022 Oscars ceremony—and served great fashion while in attendance.
The show opened with Queen Beyoncé—at a tennis court in Compton, California—performing her hit single "Be Alive" from the King Richard soundtrack. Will Smith won his first Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in King Richard (and also shocked the audience by taking out Chris Rock a few minutes before doing so). Ariana DeBose took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story, the exact same award her mentor the iconic Rita Moreno won 60 years ago for the original version of the film. Questlove's Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) won for best documentary feature.
Now that we've discussed a few of the major wins of the grand evening, let's dive into the major fashion moments. Zendaya understood the assignment brilliantly; she major flexed in a cropped white shirt and glittering floor-skimming skirt. As for Lupita Nyong'o, she never misses, ever. Her scintillating golden frock dazzled all-around her. The handsome Nate Parker looked good and smooth in his black tie ensemble. Indeed, we couldn't get enough of the red carpet looks of the evening. It was some of the most exciting we've seen in a while.
Check out the some of the best red carpet looks below, and let us know what's your favorite outfit.
