The first item from Kanye West's highly anticipated Yeezy Gap line was released this morning via a surprise drop on the rapper's 44th birthday, and it's already sold out. The debut piece, which is a bright blue nylon unisex puffer jacket priced at $200, was gone just a few hours after its release, according to CNBC.

According to Vogue, the arrival of the drop was announced Monday night by way of floating projections of the coat in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago skies. To purchase the coveted collared puffer jacket, which was only made available online for preorder, fans had to enter their names, emails, and phone numbers, as well as their size in shoes, tops, and bottoms. From there, they were escorted to a virtual waiting room until it was their turn to complete the order.

Those lucky enough to snap up the jackets before the online supply dwindled to nothing will receive them when they're shipped out in the fall. However, according to People, the jacket will also be sold at select Gap stores. West first teased the jacket's release last week when he wore it in 80-degree weather in Los Angeles.

The Yeezy Gap collection was designed with the help of British-Nigerian fashion designer Mowalola Ogunlesi. The partnership between West and Gap, which was announced in 2020 is one that will span ten years.

A press release announcing the collaboration last year promised “modern, elevated basics for men, women, and kids at accessible price points,” according to Page Six. West will receive royalties and possibly even equity in the retail brand depending on sales volume. By way of this agreement, Gap hopes to attract new customers and retain its current clientele.

West worked at Gap as a teen and in 2015, expressed a desire to be the "Steve Jobs of Gap."

“One of my dreams was to be the head creative director of the Gap," West said during an interview with The Cut. "I’d like to be the Steve Jobs of the Gap … [I want] full Hedi Slimane creative control of the Gap.”

While it is not clear when the next drop will take place, fans can rest assured that there is more to come.
