Every day I make it a habit to check Facebook to see what interesting articles have hit the net from one of my favorite sites Elitedaily.com. Recently, the self-proclaimed voice of Generation Y made yet another bold statement questioning and correcting America’s standards of beauty as they pertain to body image.

“F*ck Your Thigh Gap: 11 Reasons Why I Want My Thighs Thick,” the title of the article began, before the author listed a series of reasons why she “wants her thighs thick.” My heart literally did a few flips out of excitement. At last, someone was taking a step into the spotlight to give thick thighs the love they deserve. For almost a decade, slim, bikini cut, runway-styled women have been winning the popular vote. Oh, but a glorious day of vindication has come for the lovers of thunder thighs and the women who sport them with pride.

Thanks to the era of the big butt, thick thighs have fallen right into line with the current trend of body worship America seems to be enamored with, but this one is a trend sent from Heaven. No longer do I have to try to trim down the size of my thighs by wearing darker colors to conceal what many men who are “down south travelers” describe as earmuffs. No longer do women who I consider to be members of the #RealThickGirlTribe have to be ashamed of thighs that kiss each other with each step.

Our beautifully voluptuous thighs are finally getting the love they deserve, and I know I’m not alone in how I feel about big legs. When I shared the article on my feed, dozens of likes and comments began to flood in from women who sport legs of stallions, and from the men who enjoy them. I was actually amazed at the responses to a subject that hits so close to home for me. As I ran down the list of the author’s reasons for why anyone should love voluptuous thighs, I began to think about my own sexy reasons for why members of the #naturallythickchickclique rule in the grand scheme of body image.

The “Tuck-Away”

In multiple conversations with male friends who have no reservations letting me in on what men think of women’s bodies, I’ve come to discover that vulvas and vaginas get placed into subcategories. “You have a “tuck-away p*ssy,” one told me. “It’s the kind that marinates all day because it has two cushions to keep it warm.” Yes, he’s referencing to thick thighs. He went on to explain how men enjoy feeling the warm sensation of entering a woman, and in understanding my own biology, I had to admit this wasn’t far from the truth. Thick thighs rule because they make the best incubators for what sits between a woman’s legs.

We Last Longer in Bed

If you haven’t noticed by now that sex is a workout, it’s time to change up your sexual routine. There are hundreds of known sex positions, many of which are variations of five basic positions.  The more complex positions require core strength, upper body strength and lower body strength in combination. One of the major complaints I receive from women about sex is about tiring out too quickly, especially when performing on top. Women with more developed thighs and lower bodies have been proven to last longer in bed, due to their ability to maintain stamina in more engaging sex positions. Members of the thick-thigh gang can make the bed rock just a bit longer than your average, and that’s something to be proud of.

We’re Perceived As Sexier

Body language often speaks before words are verbalized, and a curvaceous woman signifies one who is able to bear children. Instinctually, a lady who fits this build has a woman’s body, one that’s undergone the changes of puberty and is of an age where sex is a viable option. A woman with thick thighs is considered a goddess amongst men, harboring the ability to drive them wild with the possibility of what power sits between her legs. Thicker thighs create a more alluring silhouette in clothing and serve as the perfect tease for the man who loves to leave some things to the imagination.

The verdict is in, and thick thighs are winning. With the fitness lifestyle climbing in popularity, more women are becoming comfortable with the idea of squatting, lunging and lifting their way to more toned and defined legs. Move over bootylicious era…
