If there was ever a makeup brand that embraces the total brilliance and versatility of Black women’s beauty it is Fashion Fair. Founded by Eunice W. Johnson in 1973, at a time when there were virtually no beauty offerings available for Black women in America at department stores or local drug stores, Fashion Fair, nearly 40 years later, powers and powders on.

With the launch of their new mineral foundation True Finish, the transformative brand proves it’s all about reinvention.

Meet Amanda Nassali Kiggundu. A stunning woman of Ugandan ancestry—and with the kind of beauty that speaks for itself. Amanda, a Starbucks barista in Los Angeles, was serving up Caramel Macchiatos, when she was discovered by Johnson Publishing Company CEO Desiree Rogers. A woman dedicated to transforming the image of what real beauty looks like through her personal example, the shaven-headed Amanda often thought to herself, “I feel beautiful and love my body, but why aren’t people like me on covers of magazines or the lead in movies?”

Today, Amanda joins a distinguished line of bold and brilliant Black women like Aretha Frankin, Diahann Carroll, and Natalie Cole who served as the face of the Fashion Fair brand.

The new True Finish collection boasts a line of 18 shades including “Precious Onyx”, “Sexy Sand”, and “Enduring Ebony”. The lightweight and oil-free formula features HUE Harmony Technology refined by malachite—a semi-precious mineral enriched with anti-oxidants that adds a protective layer of hydration to the skin.

The True Finish mineral line is a foundation among six other foundation offerings by Fashion Fair. True Finish will be available in select stores including Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Stages, BonTon, Belk, Dillard’s and on FashionFair.com for $28.
