Bringing the social back to social media, Blab.im, the latest live-video streaming app to enter the fray, makes it easy to have live video conversations by marrying some of what’s best about group chatting in Google Hangouts with the live-streaming sophistication of both Periscope and Meerkat. Launched in April by the founders of Bebo, Blab is currently in beta and now available to use on the Web as well as on iPhone and iPad. (Andriod users will have to wait for a dedicated app, but the app will work in mobile Chrome now.) Since it’s so easy to use, Blab’s becoming all the rage with marketers, podcasters and small business owners. Product Hunt is even now using Blab to broadcast Reddit-like “Ask Me Anything”-style Q&As with celebrities and experts.

Getting started is as simple as using your Twitter account to sign in and start a live video on your favorite topic. You can start live now or schedule one for later. Once you have the URL, you can invite up to three people to join for a four-way chat while others watch on in the audience. (Videos are also available for replay after the live broadcast, and you can also record your Blab.) Viewers can click the two hands up “praise” emoji to give each speaker a “feel” to show they like what they’re saying.

These are still early days for the video streaming platform, but here’s a look at five folks who’ve already figured out how to make blabbing work for their brand.
