Central Africa has had its fair share of ruthless dictators, ethnic conflicts, and mass genocides in the past five decades. A new threat has urged the U.S. military to send troops to four nations: Uganda, Congo, South Sudan and Central African Republic. Called the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), the militant religious extremist group has been terrorizing civilians throughout the area. Formed in 1987 in the Acholi region of Northern Uganda, the group was initially started to protest the Ugandan government, but has since expanded into dangerous rebels.

In October, the U.S. announced it would be sending around 100 troops in the dangerous region to fight against the groups and their leader Joseph Kony. Rear Adm. Brian L. Losey, the top U.S. special operations commander for Africa, said on Wednesday that although troops are being deployed, the violence is already decreasing due to pressure from the U.S. and other nations.

Will U.S. forces be able to finish the job here and eradicate this rebel group? How can other countries get involved with dissembling the central African militia?
