The successful partnership of Univision and ABC News was celebrated Wednesday in an announcement that promoted their soon-to-be launched cable news channel. In a joint statement, ABC News president Ben Sherwood said that the venture will be an "integral part of the Miami-Dade community," and Univision president Cesar Conde said it will "attract television's brightest talent to South Florida."

With a championship sports franchise with the Miami Heat, a vibrant Latino community, and plenty of beautiful locales, their assessment of the future may be on the money. Miguel Ferrer was also announced as the network's first executive, and will begin on October 30 as the executive producer of digital properties. The former managing editor of Black Voices, Latino Voices and contributor to the Huffington Post will ensure that the joint venture will be littered with up-to-date original online content.

Announcements on the president and CEO of the network are expected later this year. The channel is slated for a 2013 launch.
