Founded in 1997 by Jeff Friday, the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has created a space that prioritizes Black cinematic excellence. Entering its 27th year, the festival continues to shine a light on Black talent and provides them with resources, education and collaboration opportunities.

Last weekend, EBONY had the honor of attending the American Black Film Festival Honors and being in fellowship with Black Hollywood's finest. Held at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood in West Hollywood, California, the event paid respect to Black actors in varying stages of their careers—from rising stars to industry veterans—and revealed their achievements as a united community of artists.

Check out the highlights as EBONY correspondent Tyra Prude caught up with attendees on the ABFF red carpet.

Guests included EBONY's February 2023 cover star Jonathan Majors, Meagan Good, Deon Cole, Dondré Whitfield, Salli Richardson Whitfield, Congressman Robert Scott, Trell Davis, EBONY's 2022 Power 100 awardees Tommy and Codie Oliver, Yvonne Orji and many more. At the event, Kerry Washington, Courtney B. Vance, Janelle Monáe, Charles D. King and Kasi Lemmons received rewards for their illustrious contributions to the film industry.
