[GAME CHANGERS!] Evidence of Our Survival

Chris Bolden-Newsome is an urban farmer who believes Black masculinity has never been about how many babies you make or how many people you hurt but “about how many people in your own personal constellation are taken care of.” And for him, there’s no better way to take care of family than teaching them how to grow healthy, sustainable, farm-fresh food.

Based in Philadelphia, Bolden-Newsome is an educator and food justice advocate and works in the inner city to educate people, especially young black males, about how to eat to live. We sent Serena Reed, our Philly-based fellow, to document Chris’ amazing work and the impact he’s making by bringing urban gardens to the people. Watch this story!
