The Metro-Manhattan (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated recently hosted their "Evergreen & Ever True to Harlem” 13th Biennial Holiday Gala. For 34 years, the chapter has promoted the ideal that "sister-friends that serve together, enrich lives together" through various programs and initiatives.
700 guests enjoyed the party with a purpose especially after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees included New York City mayor Eric Adams, chefs Carla Hall and Marcus Sammuelsson, activist Tamika Mallory and many others.
In a statement given to EBONY, Erika Liles, gala chair and Links member since 2017 shared, "I’ve always had a heart for service. What I love about The Links is we do the work. We don’t outsource it. It’s us interfacing with [the people]; whether we are in Haiti, a country we adopted, providing toilets and food, or teaching makeup application to members of St. Mary’s Divas who are living with AIDS and HIV. We are on the ground."
