EBONY Power Talks: Next Gen features actor Jalyn Hall in conversation with CEO and entrepreneur, Iddris Sandu. While there is a 10-year age difference between the two, 15 and 25, respectively, they have much in common, namely their drive and dedication starting from their childhood. Sandu began teaching himself coding at age 8 and Hall jumped into acting at age 7; this early jumpstart and passion for their calling laid the foundation for their success. But, in the spirit of keeping it real, this success did not come quickly nor without help. “We have dreams, we have things that we want to do, but it’s all about who’s backing you, who’s enabling you to do these things,” Hall remarks, giving credit to his mom as the first investor in his career.

Looking ahead into what’s up next, our rising stars are focused on impact and how they can leave a legacy in their fields and also their community. “When I start with any idea…I first ask myself, does the world need this? Does the next generation need this?” Sandu reveals this critical step in his creative process. Embracing the power of their generations to directly shape the future and change realities leaves these two excited and dreaming of what the future holds. Hall shares these anchoring words passed to him, “What’s for me if for me..what opportunity is for you is yours and it’s gonna come. It may not come tomorrow, it may not come tonight, it may not come in the next 30 days, but when it comes it will come tenfold.”
