There is such a rich history of Black folks occupying coastal resort spaces in the United States, Sunny Hostin—acclaimed journalist, author, senior legal correspondent and analyst for ABC News and co- host of The View—explores this heritage and a bevy of other themes in Summer on Sag Harbor: A Novel, a follow-up to her debut novel, Summer on the Bluffs.
EBONY's Assistant Editor Savannah Taylor spoke with Hostin about her new book and making the summer beach read genre more diverse.
"We have this rich history as people of color, specifically African Americans yet we don't see it reflected in our books, on television or on streaming," said Hostin. "I decided to write to it and I hope that it's uplifting, elevated and I also hope that it's aspirational and an escape."
Summer on Sag Harbor: A Novel will be available wherever books are ordered on May 2, 2023.
