Several stars react to news of their Golden Globes nominations.

Kerry Washington (Best Actress in a TV series, Drama, for Scandal): “I’m enormously grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this honor. It’s humbling to be nominated alongside such talented and hard-working women whose work inspires me.”

Amy Adams (Best Actress, Comedy or Musical, for American Hustle): “I am so honored that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has recognized my work alongside such brilliant actresses. Also a huge congrats to the amazing writers, directors, and casts of American Hustle and Her for their nominations. Truly a day for gratitude.”

Joaquin Phoenix (Best Actor, Comedy or Musical, for Her): “Thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing Her. Spike wrote a wonderful story and I couldn’t be more pleased for him.”

June Squibb (Best Supporting Actress for Nebraska): “Today is marvelous. I’m thrilled that Nebraska is now being seen by so many people and they realize what a special movie it is. And I’m honored to be in the company of my fellow nominees.”

Steve McQueen (Best Director for 12 Years a Slave): “Thank you very much to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for acknowledging our efforts in making 12 Years A Slave. I am delighted for my cast and crew who worked so hard on this film to shine a light on a forgotten American hero, Solomon Northup.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical, for Veep; Best Actress, Comedy or Musical, for Enough Said): “I’m thrilled and so grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press. One question: does this mean I need two dresses?”

Idris Elba (Best Actor, Drama for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom; Best Actor, Mini-Series or TV Movie for Luther): “I’m truly humbled and honored to be acknowledged for two projects that, though very different from one another, are both extremely personal and special to me.
