Willow Smith revealed to her mother and grandmother that she used to cut herself when she was 9-years old.

The 17-year old opened up on Jada Pinkett Smith’s new Facebook Watch show Red Talk Table on Monday that following the success of her hit song “Whip My Hair” that she was in a dark place.

“I would have to say I honestly feel like I lost my sanity at one point,” she said to her mom and grandmother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones. “It was after that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing and I had just stopped doing singing lessons and I was kind of just in this gray area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?’”

She said that following the release of 2010’s “Whip My Hair” the pressure of a tour, song promotion and completion of an album was a lot for her.

“I was listening to a lot of dark music and it was just so crazy and I was just plunged into this black hole and I was, like, cutting myself and doing crazy things,” she said.

Jada Pinkett Smith said she had no idea that her daughter was harming herself.

“What? Really? When were you cutting yourself? I didn’t see that part? Cutting yourself where?” she said before Willow showed off her scars on her arms.

The teen said it’s been years since she’s cut herself and she did it because of emotional pain she was feeling.

“I never saw any signs of that!” a shocked Jada Pinkett Smith responded.
