Kandi Burruss has decided not to record new music with Xscape, partially because she’s currently pursuing a career on Broadway. Still, she claims there’s another reason she didn’t want to drop a new record, saying it might tarnish the group’s musical reputation.

“As soon as the girls and I started talking initially I had told them I didn’t really want to do new music and the main reason is because I feel like I don’t want to mess with our legacy,” Burruss told MadameNoire. “When we were a group we had three platinum albums, all of our albums were hits, we never had a flop album and things are not how they used to be back then.”

ORIGINAL STORY: 1/12/2018

While Kandi Burruss finished out the Xscape reunion tour with her group mates, she’s opted out of joining her old crew in the studio for new music.

The ladies are keeping it moving however, recording new EP Here For It, sans the Real Housewives star. The new collection of songs will be released February 14th and is currently available for pre-order, according to The Jasmine Brand.

The short body of work will include six tracks, including two that were released while the foursome toured the country late last year.

“Wifed Up”

“Dream Killa”

Burruss will be busy on Broadway, starring as Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago, one of the longest-running Broadway musicals of all time, from Jan. 15 through March 11 at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City.

According to Playbill, the production stars Tony Award nominee Charlotte d’Amboise as Roxie Hart, original cast member Leigh Zimmerman as Velma Kelly, YouTube sensation and Broadway star Todrick Hall (through Jan. 14 only) as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, LaVon Fisher-Wilson as Matron “Mama” Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

She awkwardly broke the news on Watch What Happens Live sitting among her group mates.
