Just one month after releasing his latest Forever and a Day EP, New Orleans singer August Alsina has dropped a new track that has fans of the R&B star giving him the side-eye.
Flipping new mom Kehlani’s track “Nunya,” Alsina sings of an ex-lover who took him for granted, crooning, “I gave you time to make me a priority / Put my feelings out there / You ignored it. Ain’t nunya business to know who I’m with.”
While the subject matter is standard R&B fare, Alsina’s accompanying lyric video has many fans believing he is referring to a tryst with Jada Pinkett Smith. The woman Alsina is texting in the video is named Koren, Smith’s middle name. Also, at the end of the clip, he sends a GIF of the actress to “Koren” in the midst of their back and forth.
Alsina appeared on season 1 of Smith’s Red Table Talk, where he shared just how much the Baltimore native helped him during a dark period in his life. He also wrote a lengthy birthday message to Smith last year, one that some fans deemed a bit over-the-top considering she is a married woman.
While some believe Alsina is airing his dirty laundry, others take it as a song and nothing more. Check out fan reactions to the possible revelation below.
