The royal family will soon be welcoming its latest princess, as Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle announced their engagement Monday morning.
The couple, who have been dating since the summer of 2016, smiled as they posed for photographs outside Kensington Palace in London shortly after the announcement, where Markle can be seen wearing an impressive engagement ring.
When asked by a reporter when he knew Ms. Markle “was the one,” Prince Harry replied, “The very first time we met,” according to BBC. Unfortunately, the Suits star has also been the subject of intense media scrutiny, prompting her new-fiancé to denounce the racial undertones of media coverage as it pertains to the biracial beauty.
Kensington Palace revealed that Markle’s engagement ring was designed by Prince Harry and features two diamonds that belonged to his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The 33-year-old Brit is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and is fifth in line to the throne, following his father Prince Charles, elder brother Prince William, nephew Prince George and niece Princess Charlotte.
