Ada Collins, an Austin civil rights veteran and Huston-Tillotson University alum, donated $3 million to the historically Black college in East Austin Monday. It is the largest donation in school history, reports the Austin American-Statesman.

According to the report, the donation will help fund the Sandra Joy Anderson Community Health and Welness Center, which is named after Collins' daughter. The planned $35 million center will serve low income residents living near Huston-Tillotson's East Austin campus with mental and behavioral health services.
