Oprah Winfrey celebrated her 65th birthday on Jan. 29. Despite reaching the official age of retirement, the media mogul has no interest in slowing down.

“I don’t believe in it,” Winfrey told Entertainment Tonight‘s Nischelle Turner about retiring.

“The other day somebody said, ‘Oh, I see you’re now here and ’cause you’re retired.’ And I go, ‘No.’ I was in the bookstore, I was buying a book and the woman said, ‘Oh, so you’re doing a lot of reading on your retirement’ … and I started to turn around and give a whole lecture. ‘I’m not retired.’ But I thought, ‘OK, just take it.’ I said, ‘Thank you, don’t need a bag,'” Winfrey said.

Winfrey acknowledged the birthday as a “milestone,” but she doesn’t feel limited by age. “I am feeling some kind of way because it’s the number of which the United States government has said you’re officially old,” she said.

Winfrey joked that all her friends are asking whether she received her Medicare card.

“The wonderful thing about being 65 is you do exactly what you want to do,” she said.
