Prosecutors said they have dropped charges against a White man accused of urinating on a 5-year-old Black girl because the children made up the story, ABC News reports.

Charges were dismissed against the Grand Rapids, Michigan man on Friday when the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office after officials said the kids who they spoke to wanted “to avoid trouble” after one of them urinated on another child.

Police said they had taken the man into custody on Wednesday after receiving a call from the girl’s parents that a 60-year-old White man had urinated on their daughter and called her a racial slur.

It is unclear if the unidentified man would press charges.
