Well-respected writer, Roxane Gay, took to Twitter on Wednesday to praise thousands of young Americans who are calling for stricter gun laws in response to the Florida shooting that took place in Parkland last week.
17 people lost their lives when a lone gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14.
While the New York Times best-selling author praised students advocates across the nation, she did compare the response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
It is interesting to note the difference in support for the kids in FL versus the kids in Black Lives Matter. I say that with full admiration for the kids in FL, to survive such a trauma and fight for everyone to be safer. But that’s also what was happening in Ferguson and beyond
