They've been made up by anonymous people over time, and they've been engrained in our pretty little brown heads. The "beauty rules" for dark girls: what we can and cannot wear, what looks good on us and what doesn't. For some time, many of us have followed them, believing that our complexions prohibited us from playing in the beauty sand box like the other girls did. But now, we are setting our own beauty standards, and playing by our own rules when it comes to makeup.

Here are a few myths I'm hoping all of us have either broken already, or will do so after you finish reading this.
