In honor of Black History Month, The TODAY Show recently aired a segment revealing what was meant to be an accurate reconstruction of the bust of Queen Nefertiti. The only problem is that their version of the Egyptian queen looks awfully close to Caucasian.
Josh Gates, host of Travel Channel series Expedition Unknown, presented the piece that was created through high-tech imaging. The resulting bust, while donned in traditional Egyptian headdress and jewelry, looks more like a White woman home from a tropical vacation than the queen of an African nation that gave birth to King Tut.

This didn’t sit well with most of Black Twitter, who called out the morning show in huge numbers. Take a look at some of the best reactions below.

Your depiction of Queen Nefertiti on the Today show is DISGUSTING! You obviously do not know history. You are a fraud. All of Ancient Kemet was ruled by BLACK Africans, sorry if yr neanderthal brain can’t accept that.
