Taking place on May 25,, 2023 to May 28, 2023 in Los Angeles, the 3rd Annual African conference will not only bring together champions of Black excellence but simultaneously pay homage to the 60th anniversary of Africa Day, which commemorates the importance of unification and visibility on the continent of Africa.
This year, the festival will host a variance of fireside chats, keynote addresses, community receptions and panels about topics that are of great interest to the African diaspora across the industries of entertainment, technology, business and more. Those expected to speak at the event include Van Lathan Jr,; Alphonso David; Kweku Amoako; Ndidi Onyejiaka MD; Dr. Omonye Phillips,VP, Riteaid; Sam Onyemelukwe, CEO of Trace TV; Detavio Samuels, CEO of REVOLT; Trevor Ndhlovu, Hypebeast Africa; Tunji Bolagun, CEO of Def Jam; Addy Awofisayo, Head of Youtube Africa; Sam Onyemelukwe, SVP of Global Business Development, Trace; Adam McFarland ofYoutube, Travis Adkins of USADF.
"December is known as the time the diaspora popularly gathers on the continent to connect with and celebrate their heritage, however we believe that this connection should start here in the diaspora. We are excited to be bringing together the global Black diaspora to celebrate their heritage especially around a significant time as the 60th anniversary of Africa Day in Los Angeles," stated a rep of Amplify Africa.
Honorees of the conference this year are EBONY 2022 Power 100 Dynamic Duo awardees Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of the Earn Your Leisure Podcast, Duke Osita, Arinze Emeagwali, Wallah El Sheikh, Chef Eros, Olamide Olowe and Humble Lukanga. On the last day of the conference, artist Asake will headline the AFRICON Music Stage.
